Our story, our soil

Our Story: Rooted in the Ozarks

Oddball Homestead and Shearing began as a whisper of a dream—a quiet calling toward a slower, more intentional way of living. We say here that we are working to live not living to work. Our homestead was born from a desire to trade the noise of the world for the rhythmic sound of shears, the low hum of the pasture, and the honest exhaustion that comes from a day spent in service to the earth.

What started with a few acres and a whole lot of elbow grease has grown into a sanctuary of stewardship. Here in the heart of Southern Missouri, we don’t just work the land; we listen to it. We believe that how we treat a single blade of grass or a lone ewe matters. To us, ethical practice isn’t a marketing term—it’s a promise. It’s the late-night barn checks, the gentle hands during shearing season, and the commitment to leaving this soil better than we found it.

Every harvest we gather and every fleece we skirt tells a chapter of our quirky, heartfelt story. We embrace the "oddball" in ourselves and our animals, celebrating the unique beauty that comes from living authentically. We are more than just homesteaders; we are the keepers of a legacy, woven together by fiber, community, and a deep love for this rugged Missouri landscape.
